As populations grow, it becomes increasingly difficult to find a green space. Toronto is the struggle, with their newly Green Roof by-law.
The Green Roof by law, it is imperative that any new building that exceeded at least 50% green area. The Toronto by-law decided by a vote of 36-2, which is a big step for the living environment.
“Toronto’s by-law provides a new opportunity to strengthen the emerging practice of integrated green building design," said Steven W. Peck, the president of Green Roofs for Healthy Cities. "[It] breaks new ground on how to structure a mandatory green roof"
Implications - Metropolitan areas are increasingly passing legislation that supports eco-friendly construction and design.
