BalasHapusYour description of the area is perfect & I would challenge anyone who says the would be "bored" in the Lake District at any time of year. I've known this area for most of my life & I am still discovering pathways, views & rivers that I've not seen before. There are some wonderful places to visit with breathtaking scenery which literally changes by the minute. There are also some amazing sights to view from the water which you might struggle to see from land beautiful homes & stately houses, boat mooring areas, fishermen, reeds & rushes, not to mention wildlife & water fowl.....a great way to see all of this is a pleasure cruise on one of the Lakes, its an absolute must & they run all year round. One of the things that strikes me most about the National Park is how you can change your surroundings so quickly you can be hiking half way up a fell & within the hour find yourself indulging in a Lakeland Cream tea in a cosy cafe. The contrast between the rugged terrain, serene lakes, fast flowing rivers & quaint pretty towns & villages (that are bang up to date but unspoilt) takes some beating in this area. There are hundreds of pubs, restaurants, cafes, bars & hotels that generally welcome walkers with or without mans best friend. But those of you who maybe don't think of yourselves as the "outdoor types" might be surprised at how much you would enjoy this unspoilt countryside.....you can view it from a cosy bar whilst enjoying a glass of mulled wine in Winter or a glass of chilled Chardonnay or local Real Ale in the Summer in a sunny beer garden! Open top tour busses will give you a birds eye view of the area & no need for walking boots!!!You really are missing out if you haven't tried the Lake District, whatever your taste! There is something for everyone in accommodation, eating out, pubs & visitor attractions always plenty to see & do.Put a visit on your wish list.
