Smile Stool is the result of a study on the decline of the furniture industry in Indonesia, which in recent years has struggled to compete with its amazing crafts from the mass of the products manufactured in China. In addition, more than 3,500 Indonesian companies often end up with a huge amount of excess material that often ends up as firewood. Use of construction waste and the rationalization of a simple assembly process, sustainable design gives hope for the industry and provides a solution for the survival of local artisans.
