The city and the houses of the suburbs tend to be optimized for the central services they receive, but the the Box House by Adam LoPorto is a great example of a house that leaks from the network and incorporates a range of systems that use bad if its natural environment.
This charming house Angelo Donghia won the 2010 Angelo Donghia Foundation Grant, and a look at its features reveals why. Its structure is inspired by the large commercial buildings, but smart coating allows intelligent interaction between the elements inside and out.
Solar panels installed on the roof to supply energy in the interior, while the passive ventilation ensures that fresh air is kept circulating through the house. The Box House by Adam LoPorto takes advantage of its thermal mass micro-climate, sealed tightly like “a box within a box.” References: behance.net and ecofriend.
