These screwy stools, called Vitae Stools, are the products of Italian design company Riva 1920. Imitating the shape and the shape of screws, these charming Vitae Stools are made of American walnut or Lebanon scented cedar wood.
The Riva 1920, as described on their website, strive to create natural-looking home furnishings that are “suffused with the scents of wood, oils and wax.” They only use wood from sustainable forests and suppliers of wood that have been accredited by the Forest Stewardship Council [FSC]. Natural finishes are also used to create Vitae Stools.
In addition, as suggested by the name "Vitae Stools", these Vitae Stools allude to the existence and the circle of life, which goes hand in hand with the Riva's 1920 dedication to sustainable production practices. References: riva1920.it_ and retaildesignblog.net
