Dr. Dickson Despommier, Professor of environmental sciences at Columbia University and microbiology, proposed to build urban skyscrapers cultivation farms could provide food on land poor populations and protect the environment. In a recent article in New York Magazine, Despommier explains how 150 vertical farms could feed the entire population of New York City.


Sky farms are as enormous greenhouses, crops and weather protection and contaminated runoff. Dr. Despommier even predicts a reduction in global warming because it could be re-forested land overfarmed.
