Description

These images of abandoned homes in Detroit were taken by photographer and blogger Sweet Juniper. They are part of a collection taken over three summers in town, once bustling with industry.

It is estimated that there are some 10,000 abandoned structures in Detroit, at any time. Many are torn down or burned. A few still standing in the summer months and become covered with vines and bushes to become Sweet Juniper aptly describes as a 'Feral'. In Latin the word feralis translates to 'belonging to the dead,' and it means fera 'will beast'. Thanks to @picturecool for pointing me in Sweet Juniper’s direction on Twitter.
